Hello.
I bought a 256 ddr ram yesterday and put it in the slot. After I put it in, I turned on my computer, and it worked just fine.
Today, I came back home then turned on my computer. But the monitor screen was just black. The computer is on, but nothing is shown on the monitor. I opened up my computer checked if anything's unplugged, but everything was fine. As far as I recall, when I installed the new ram, I accidently tapped on a small part on my video card. Do you think that's the problem why the monitor's blank? If so, should I have to buy a new video card because it is busted?
I need to do some work on the computer, which is due on monday. So quick replies/help/comments are very appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

You may have just unseated the video card. Try removing it and putting it back in.

I tried that also, but it didn't work.
By the way, will "touching/accident tapping on the back of video card" screw it badly if your hand wasn't discharged? I made sure my hand was discharged before opening up my computer.
Just to add some things, the day I installed my ram, I left my computer on. When I came back from school, it was turned off. Later, I found out that it turned off itself automatically, which it never did before. Could this be a motherboard or a cpu problem? Not a video card?
Here's the possibilites so far:
1. My video card busted
2. Motherboard failure due to a new 333Hz 256mb ddr ram. (maybe motherboards can hold up to certain amount of Hz?)
3. CPU died(?)
Here's my specs:
CPU: Athlon XP 1700+
RAM: 512 DDR RAM
Motherboard: this I'm not too sure about... but I know its ASUS (and it looks pretty much like ASUS A7V8X-X)
Graphic Card: GEFORCE FX 5200 Ultra 128 MB DDR DVI & VIVO [XFX]

well have you tryed taking the new ram out and starting it up?
your motherboard wont fry because you overloaded it w/ ram... it with either give you max ram it alows OR disregard the other ram... or it might beep(long story lol)
i doubt very much that by bumping the vid card(im assumeing a norml bump not you hitting it w/ a hammer) shouldnt hurt it, as for grounding yourself they say that you should all the time, but i never do and chances are thats not your prob either...
