Problem with directX

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have recently installed a new program on my computer (windows XP Home edition) and cannot use it because the message "The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9 could not be located in the dynamic link library"

My driver is apparantly not compatible with DirectX 9.0c which is required to run the program and i was wondering in anybody could tell me whether it is possible to update my driver and where i can find a download to do so.

I have an Intel GM/GME Graphics card if that helps.

if you are installing XP onto a computer that runs on an older operating system, the processor in your computer will not like that at all and you will have to un install XP and never ever try that again until you buy a new computer. processors were only built to handle the operating system that they were originally programed with.

if you already have XP and are trying to install something that requires direct x nine (which I hope is the case) your problem probably within direct x. I would recomend that you reinstall direcct x and after that click on the "start" menu and search for "directX diagnostic" or something to that effect and run every test that it wants to run because that will give you a more specific error message

Click Start>run. Type in "dxdiag" to run the diagnostics on direct x. Type in "dxdiag" to run the diagnostics on direct x. Try this page on Intel's web site to maybe find out if you have the latest driver for your video card. Click on the link that says "How to identify your graphics/video driver version" to see what driver is currently installed on your system and then you can see if there is a newer one available. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it may be worth a shot. Hope this helps.

??????? This I have never heard of. I have run XP on machines with 400Mhz processors on up that were originally running Win 98 and did not notice any problems with the processor other than XP running slow on the older systems. I also didn't know that processors were programmed for a certain operating system.

any system that meets the minimum specs of an OS will run it, although not necessarily well

you need the manufacturer and exact model of your graphics card, then hit the manufacturer's site and surf to the download/support section. follow the instructions for finding, acquiring, and installing your drivers. if you have the current drivers, AND your card supports dx9, then you may have a broken path. in which case, a registry cleaner should fix it.

older graphics cards, particularly built-in, may not support dx9. if this turns out to be the problem, its time to consider upgrading or replacing the computer, depending on the other hardware. dx9 is the standard, so even if this is just a game, youll need to do this eventually for other purposes.
