System 866 MHZ Pent 3
384 MB Ram
NVidia GeForce4 4000 video card / 64 MB video RAM
Windows XP OS, 08/04 Service pack 2 update

My daughter got SIMS 2 for her birthday having been a fan of all the previous SIMs.
My onboard graphics card was not good enough so I went out and bit the bullet and bought the Geforce card.

We updated the Direct X to ver.9.0 and loaded the drivers for the video card and went to start the Sims 2.

The splash screen comes up then the loading the perameters etc screen then the main screen and when she goes to start the families it either crashes or flashes bright pink then bright green then crashes.

I am able to use this new cards high settings with Madden2004 but the SIMS will not work and crashes everytime.

Yes,I disabled my firewall and Antivirus and ALL background programs.
This game is a pian in the butt to start up,they want a lot just to play a game.

Am I missing something?

I also had a problem with this card when I was rebooting you can get as far as the desktop and then it would go black and reboot agin and again, finally I raised the resolution of the screen so the icons were smaller and rebooted and that fixes that.

Wnat do I have to do to play this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
