Hello again,
A pc I use on a regular basis, that isnt mine, has contracted a few viruses, which I got rid of using avg. Unfortunately, avg didnt heal the sound files, and locked them up in the virus vault, now the pc has no sound and its really annoying. The pc is using windows xp home edition. I was wondering if anyone had any information/solutions that might help, because I dont know enough about computers to come up with any solutions myself. Thank you once again.

mute

did you check the speakers?

The sound files? Do you mean the driver or do you mean Windows sounds? I've never heard of a driver being "locked up", but maybe thats just my inexperience...

I've never heard of a driver being "locked up" either. Hm.. that's weird though. I'd try re-installing the sound card if it's not muted, and not the speakers. A good way to test the sound card is using headphones.

No its not muted! I havent tried headphones, but I think I will. Thanks for the suggestions

I forgot to mention, the sound files in windows have been corrupted by a virus. AVG quarentined them, because it couldnt fix them. Now I dont have sound, so I dont really know whats going on. I dont know. If any of you have any info that would be spiffy, thanks.

I've never heard of sound files being corrupted by a virus. That's very very strange. Is it just the Windows Sounds that don't work? Are you able to play CDs or MP3s?

Umm...nevermind, I figured it out. And now I feel stupid. It was plugged in the wrong spot, damn them for looking so similar! Anyway, thanks for all your help.
