Warhammer 40k Dawn of War

Has anyone else had a chance to play this yet?

It has been quite a long time since I actually enjoyed a ground based RTS (probably Total Annihilation), but I have been having a blast with this one. The single player is extremely short, as the game was built to be multiplayer in the long run, with expansions adding the other Warhammer armies later on.

The demo is most excellent if you want to get a feel for the rest of the game.

i played the demo the day it launched. it is solid, without alot of micromanagment, but i didnt get a feel for the strategy aspect. just seemed bigger is better.

i liked the units that could shoot inside the fog of war.

the intro movie was awesome, but the gameplay was a letdown after the movie. the movie was too good.

alot of gameplay aspects were very fresh though. im not sure i like the control points yet though.

There is very little resource micromanagement (which I think is a good change). The control points are what it is all about. I wasn't too sure with the control points either, but now that I have played it for a while I think its a great change to the standard resource model.

If you play through the single player campaign it really shows you how to maximize your platoon upgrades. With the right upgraded platoon you can take down any of the larger stuff no problem (including the avatars).

Oh and the intro movie is badass.
