Increasing the volume on my laptop? Any advice or downloads?

Hey guys/gals, I am new to this forum and wanted to thank all of you in advance for any help you might be able to give me. I have recently had total hip replacement surgery(I am only 35) and I am layed up in bed, with nothing but my laptop(DVD's).

My question:

Is there any way I can increase to volume on my laptop? When I play a DVD, I can hear it, but it sure would be nice if I could increase it somehow. I have the volume control maxed out, so the only thing that might help is a download. I am not able to go purchase a speaker system, so I was wondering if any of you might know of a free download that could possibly increase the volume on my system?

Thanks again and I look forward in hearing from ya'll.

Regards,
Landon Allen

Hey,
I also have that problem with some movies. I connect my headphones to my laptop and listen through them which seems to help alot. They're just $15 headphones.

The volume control might help. Push it all the way up. It's in the Control Panel.

Your laptop speakers are only capable of so much output. I would suggest that you buy an external soundcard (Audigy NX for example - $80) and hook up a PC speaker system to it.
