Lightening and thunder are the coolest things to watch!. Tornados are fun too although its not the best idea in the world to watch them close up.
But its sucks because cleveland never gets hit with any cool storms, everywhere around us does but not us.

We've had some severe lightning here the last few days. The best part about it is I have an uninterruptable power supply..hehe
Heat lightning is the best around here though. I live across from a lake and it's real awsome to see in the Summer.

I have had the unpleasurable experience of almost getting hit twice in my life. After such events, I don't like thunderstorms much anymore. I don't run or hide under the blankets, but I make sure I am well enough indoors.
By the way, if you ever experience something that goes like this:
1) All your hair stands up on end (you have split seconds to kiss the dirt).
2) you will then hear (if your lucky) a weird "Ziiiiiiiing" sound (this is good because this means your still alive and that you were not the easiest conduit to ground. This is bad because that was a close one. Oddly enough…when your this close…you don’t hear the loud thunder…at least I haven’t (twice).
3) Take a deep breath and smell all that good carcinogenic ozone....best stuff you will ever smell once your heart slows down to normal.
You won't be saying "I love T storms". Now rain is very nice..soothing, and relaxing.

The Tampa Bay region is the number one place listed for the most lightning strikes in America. I have seen so many things get hit in the 15 years I have lived here its not even surprising anymore.
Most recently I was standing about 20 feet from a telephone pole, the sky was dark at 3pm and the storms were moving in. As Chako explained the feel of static started up and myself and two other guys gave the "O Crap" look at each other.
Crack, The telephone pole was gone. What looked like toothpicks covered the ground. Nobody was hurt. This time anyway.
I have seen lightning hit almost everything. The logic (if any) is beyond me to understand.
Imagine, if you can seeing 1500 lightning strikes in less then an hour. That’s nothing during the rainy season here. That’s a normal storm.
We tend to keep our karma clean around here.
And never, I mean never: do I ask God for a sign that he is really here.
Wanna see something really wicked?
Watch lightning hit a power sub station from about a half mile away. That will show you just how nasty nature can be.
