HELP weird boot problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

hey guys i got something weird going on with my computer. when i turn the power switch on my lights and fans will sort of flash then stop. if i take out that small power cord that hooks up to the motherboard, it turns on then shuts off after a few seconds. if i take out my processor everything turns on fine- but that's not helping much.

ive tried a new motherboard, different processor, new power supply- still same thing. if you guys have any ideas...

before testing another PSU (Antec or Enermax, preferably) make sure the case's Front Panel is properly connected to the mainboard (Front Panel: the cables part of the case itself, which involve the on/off switch, reset, hdd ide led display) : PWR, RST, IDE, etc.

we pulled everything out and shorted the power button and still nothing..... we have replaced everything we even have tried a different mobo but it is doing the same thing.

It's possible a short has fried both PSU's you tried.

NB> A lot of modern MB'd need 2 wired plugs from the PSU - the 'normal' big rectangular (20 wires or so) plug AND the 4 wire square one. If you have such a MBd. (the 4 wire socket is usually quite near the CPU) make sure both plugs are firmly seated - usually they won't turn on if they need the extra 4 wire power and it's not inserted.
