Java problems

WinXP SP2 is what I'm using now. I don't know if java was working after installing SP2 or not but I do know it was working at 1 point with SP1. I first had system problems running a trial of Kaspersky AV but I don't know if it is related or not since I didn't try anything java with it.

I tried uninstalling java and reinstalling but it didn't help any. Using a tool on the java site it recognizes the java I have but it isn't working properly.

After opening a page that uses java the tops of the browser windows get screwy, Mozilla Firefox and MSIE respectively.

I attached a fullscreen shot right after trying to open the java control panel to keep from hosing tables

if youre using a moz based browser, you might have to drop down to an earlier version of java. unless they fixed that issue. if youre running ie, who knows.......

We use Moz Firefox and MSIE here, a his and hers setup. Using the previous version of java (1.4.1 if it helps someone else out there) both browsers are acting as they should.
Thanks redwench for the help!
