Flashplayer won't install in new XP system

Greetings,
I have an unhappy customer who wishes to play yahoo solitaire online. We have turned off firewalls, Antivirus and Spy Sweeper. We have download the 458kb flashplayerinstaller.exe file once to floppy and thrice the standard method and the Green Flash moive plays saying it has been installed successfully. However, the games don't play and Ad/Remove programs does not show the ppresence of macromedia flash, only macromedia shockwave.
This computer is a new Asus P4PE mobo with a P4-2000MHz, 512MB DDR PC3200, new 80GB
Seagate HD and a fresh install of WinXP pro and SP1....
I attempted during this rebuild to install Wxp SP2, but after it installed and restarted the Win XP log would start, flash and the system would again go back to post. Then start with the typical XP error screen asking how you want to start...it then only starts in safe mode. After reinstalling XP pro and SP2 again the same thing happened. Ended up reformatting and reinstalling XP without SP2.
Might this lend any insight into the problem with flash player working?
Would Very much appreciate any suggestions or leads toward other diagnoses that may reveal more.
Many Thanks
Craig

might be able to guess about sp2. install a non-nortons firewall after your xp installation, then run windows update. dont install anything else until sp2 is done.

Do you know the averge time you can spend on the Inernet with your firewall and anti-virius 'truned off' before you become infected ?
