Not sure whether this goes in warcraft 3 or hardware so i am putting posts in both asking why warcraft 3 or expansion won't work with a radeon 9800 pro, keep getting error message: "memory could not be read" or "memory could not be written" plz reply anyone.

I believe that has to do with your RAM not you vid card. But I could be wrong.

Wrong; the computer which has the graphics card has 512 mb of RAM, the one where warcraft3 does work has a nvidia graphics card and 256 mb of RAM , thx anyway.

I wasn't referring to the amount of RAM. I was talking about possibly have a bad stick of RAM. As I don't know much about that issue I can't really be for sure.

switch the cards and see if the problem is with the computer or the card.

Indeed, you can even change the ram sticks to check to see if it is the ram that is confused.

It's not the computer, because it worked before I put in the card. Also this is the same problem with another computer which has a Radeon 9200 ALL-IN-WONDER ATI series card, thx though

you dont understand me. if that particular card works in another computer that is capable of supporting it, then there is nothing wrong with the card. that computer may not be supplying the appropriate voltage or power, or theres something else going on.
in other words, you need to find out if the card is defective or works before you can get any further. my guess is its not getting enough power or cooling to run wc3.

Also check your bios settings for your Mobo. Asus (and some other) boards have read/write capabilities for high end cards like the 9800, but bios has them disabled by default.

I have intel boards for the two systems with ATI all in wonders (8500 and 9800). WC3 does not work on either. The graphics cards run everything else and pass on any test that I can devise. I have tried changing all sorts of bios settings to no avail. However, I just got a new power supply for the system with an ATI 8500. I havent tried running WC3 on that one yet. I will give it a try.

if its only wc3, and all other high end games work fine, its a bug in the game. youll want to check blizzards site for help.
