Medal of honor locks up at loading bar!!!

I have installed Medal of Honor - Allied Assault on my system. After launching the game, the opening sequence plays. When I then try to load the first mission my system locks up. It always locks at the same point - when the loading bar is about 20%.
I have successfully run the basic training portion of the game. I have also played the game demo on the same system.
Fixes I've tried:
- Installed the UK/US patch from EA
- Adjusted sound acceleration in DX diagnostics
- Tried running as Windows ME compatible
- Updated all drivers
I have DX 9.0c installed
Any help?
