So, I'm doing the whole college thing now. It's that time for me, yay.
I've been looking at two mainly. I know I should broaden my horizons, but I've stuck with two for some reason. I'm gonna major in Computer Engineering Technology (programming nerd).
The two schools I'm looking at are:
Vermont Technical College
and
SUNYIT (Utica IT/ State University of New York Institute of Technology)
Anybody have anything to say on either school??
Just wondering what you're thinking.

SUNY is a good school.

A friend went to Utica and hated it, she is now at the same school I am at.
And I have a friend going to NYIT, he enjoys it but has lots and lots of work to do

Well, it's not Utica college, I have a friend who went there.
Utica IT is a bit north of it, and it's supposed to be a wonderful campus. I'll let ya know (if you even wanna know) what it's like when i tour on the 11th.
Oh yeah, Shal, SUNY is a series of schools in New York. State Universities of New York.

I've been accepted to 2/3 that I applied to. Pennsylvania College of Technology, Keystone College and the third Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology(supposed to be the best tech school in PA) I have to take an entrance exam on the 19th.
Good luck wherever you may go. Did you take SATs or apply yet? Try applying to both that way if you dont get accepted to one theres always the other.

UPenn also has a good engineering school, no?

I have pretty good SAT scores (1300), and my GPA is about a 3.7.
I think I can get in on early decision and get some scholarship money.
I don't know yet though, I'm going to tour this monday. I'll let you know what happens then.

If you apply early decision and get accepted, it's unlikely you'll get any scholarship money.

That's encouraging.
Well, I heard from the rep at that school that I would most likely get a full scholarship IF I applied for an early decision. While that may not be applicable, I should be able to get SOMETHING out of it.
Vermont Tech also offered a $1,000 scholarship for early decision condidates..which is nice, but it's still 21-grand a year..

So if I was a school, I would offer scholarships to people who I really wanted to come, but who may very easily choose another school over me.
The very nature of early decision preempts this since the applicant enters a contract to stay if accepted. Of course this doesn't apply to every school, but it only follows from logic...
That's why I like Early Action so much better, where you express an emphasized interest and get a faster response, but don't necessarily have to commit. Leaves options much more open to people trying to decide where to apply.

Thats odd the school I am at offers it to anyone with certain SAT and GPA.
And getting $7,000 is nothing a $30,000 school
