direct 3d problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello, I recently just reformatted my computer and reinstalled WIndows XP etc.

I have a geforce 4 ti 4200.

I have the latest drivers and I have the latest version of direct x, version 9.0c

My problem is that I am unable to start any games without the monitor making the resolution change noise and then nothing happens. I ran dxdiag and discovered that although it says directx is running fine, my direct3d test fails. Direct draw works fine, but direct 3d says that It cannot create a 3d image.

anyone know what the problem might be?

thanks a lot

Tom

1) You have checked the games' video setting during the installation, i.e was your display card recognized by the games.
2) Visit microsoft's knovledge database for different reasons for DirectX 9.0Cproblems, it is known to be 'buggy', i.e lots of probplems.
3) Make sure that your OS is updated with the correct 'patches' for the games.
4) Also visit the game manufacturer/distributer for patches for the games and check their FAQ as the FAQ for the display driver manyfacturer too.

If all the specs are matching, it is a configuration problem, check via device manager that the display card is working as it should.
