safe mode

hi,.i cant get my scan disk to go all the way thru ,keeps going back and forth trying to read and fix my disks,.i have deleted almost all of my start-up programs,.still cant succeed,.maybe if i had my pc on safe-mode it would work,...if this would work plz advise,and tell me how to get my pc on safe mode,.thanks,.mike

you boot into safe mode by hitting f8 before it starts loading windows. several other methods are listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;180902
your scandisk will repeatedly read and write if it finds a lot of errors. especially if youre running a thorough scandisk, which can take hours. if its still not done after an overnight session, then you should be concerned.
