DirectX 9.0c Problem With Windows ME for The Sims 2

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 2 Mx Video Display Card on a Windows ME computer. To Play The Sims 2 I need DirectX 9.0c and with the drivers on the NVIDIA site it will not work no matter how much I have tried. I've checked 'dxdiag' but still it never changes, my computer can't except DirectX 9.0c.
I was just wondering whether I will ever be able to play this game, if I cant get DirectX 9.0c, and if i can, if anyone has any ideas i'd be quite grateful.

When you say it will not work, does this mean that you cannot get directx 9.0c to install? if it is only with those drivers, maybe you should try to install some older nvidia driver, they have a archive page with older drivers. Try the older driver and see if Directx will install then. Remember to remove the nvidia driver from your machine first. before you install the new one.
