It's a sad day.

Reeve went into cardiac arrest Saturday at his home in Westchester County, New York, after developing a serious systemic infection during treatment for a pressure wound."

So apparently it all began with a mere bedsore. What is this, the Dark Ages?

Farewell superman

disclaimer: omg a somewhat lengthy and serious post by altron

My mom and I were talking about this (She's been a nurse at a hospital in Philadelphia for about 14 years..).

Apparently, Reeves was given 7 years to live after his paralysis. Ever sat down on a bed or something to watch a movie? Maybe 20-30 minutes in, you feel uncomfortable and shift positions? Yeah, well, paralyzed people obviously can't do that. The sad thing is, their body is trying to give those feelings of uncomfortableness to tell them to move. While us normal people just spend a second or two reconfiguring ourselves to another position, paralyzed people are just breaking down physically under the uncomfortableness their body is in. Yet they never know it. That's when the essentials start to go.

Sucks Reeves died, though. One of the few celebrity deaths I really cared about (I did care about Rodney's). It's such a downer because he was so hell-bent on walking again. I guess his doctor was always right.. "You'll never walk again".

he will be missed... a moment of silence for the s man

Kind of cool, on City of Heroes the other night they held a player planned vigil.

A couple of hundred of players stood in Atlas Square facing the flag and saluted for two minutes of silence.

I see Slashdot picked up on it this morning. I wish I would have known at the time, I would have jumped right in with the rest of them.
