Wow ... never knew I was almost as old as D&D (damn, I feel old)...
ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- Dungeons & Dragons players gathered in game stores around the country Saturday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the grandfather of fantasy role-playing games -- a pop culture phenomenon that has influenced myriad video games, books and movies.
An estimated 25,000 fans in 1,200 stores celebrated the anniversary Saturday, said Charles Ryan, brand manager for role-playing games at Wizards of the Coast, a Renton, Washington, company that owns Dungeons & Dragons.

I can't believe I didn't know about that... haha. Being a D&D player and all.. haha. I honestly thought D&D was older than that.

Its funny i remember first discovering d&d as a kid.... but when you put certain things in the context of that was 20 years ago...wow. I remember my grandmother seeing some news report telling her that d&d players were satanist's and how she freaked out. Or how the first person I considered a celebrity, or the first person I cared about that was a "celebrity", was Gary Gyax. D&D 30 years old..................
