Every company is different, Thee. I think your best bet would be to call the company that offers the wireless broadband and ask them your questions. They'll have real, accurate answers for you -- the best we can do is guess.
I've never, ever seen a broadband company that a) gives out NICs, b) sets up your network for you, or c) gives you a router. They provide the broadband to your house and give you a modem, you generally have to provide and set up everything else yourself. You can usually get documentation or support on HOW to set up your router and network your computers to connect to the internet over the broadband connection, but they aren't going to do it for you.

direcway sets up your home network.
and several local wireless isps do set up those as well, they involve directional antennas.
though a technician is at your residence doing everything else in those cases though. the work isnt getting the service to you, the work is giving you the equipment for the service (and setting up, which you arent as a customer allowed to do, with 2way satellites that can disrupt other satellites).
(i know because i install dircway and starband)
charter gave me my nic card.

Charter gave you a NIC? All they did for me, all three times I've had CHarter service, is run the cable, set up the modem, and make sure I could get online while directly connected (computer --> modem --> internet).
Crazy.

Me too. Although they did offer to sell me a NIC card for 10 bucks. The first time I got hooked up on Charter, the install guy told me they were not allowed to set up networks for the customer.

well i took 3 years of ccna so i should be able to hook up the network, i gotta remember how though
what all do you need to hook up a xbox to this connection? (besides a cat5e cable)

i dont have a home network with charter, just single pc. i doubt they would set a home network, the tech did not know enough to install a network. come to think of it, even though he gave me the ethernet card for free, i offered to install it to save time. all he knew was to put the cd in and how to manually connect everything up.
the charter cd did put actual spyware on my machine.
i ended up purchasing the modem from them for around $25 used (i used it )
and they refused to take the nic when i turned off their tv service, (onboard ethernet now)
also, appearently throughout all of charter's network if you have pipeline, they have no way of blocking out channels 2,3, and everything analog above 74, or it will interfer with pipeline service.
