ok here's the problem: I've got over 3000 fonts in my fonts folder and they're all successfully installed. in photoshop they're all shown perfectly. no problems at all. but when i start up Word or wordpad, there are only 3 fonts available. they're all called ''Device font'' and one is 10CPI, the other 12, and the last 17...this is really weird and all but there's something else. the comp downstairs has the exact same problem. that's getting freaky =\. the comp downstairs doesn't have more fonts than default windows fonts so it can't be that. and i can't discover what does causes it. does anyone know the answer?

So where did you get this copy of Microsoft word? I suspect this may not be a real, out-of-the-box, direct-from-Microsoft copy of Microsoft Word...

Are you using the same printer for both computers? Word will only see the fonts that are available to the default printer. There's a good explanation of it found here:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/NoFonts.htm
If you need help in changing the default printer settings, you can get more info on that here:

yes it's a legit copy of Miscrosoft Word.
and thanks Ion. see, i'm on a network with 4 printers. the default printer was, of course, set to the network admin's printer. i changed that to the one i always use to print my documents and i after that i could select every font i wanted =)
thx mate.
