Game Spy?

I have the retail version of Halflife counter-strike right now. Should I download gamespy? Is it any better or different then the retail version?
And for some reason in my game i can't bring down my console, and i the names of the guns are different then all my firends game.

No, you don't need Gamespy Arcade, it's just a 3rd party server program that allows you to view active Counter-Strike servers.
As for your console problem, I'm not sure what to tell you. I don't have the retail version of Counter-Strike.

Ok about the gs. But i am still very confused about why my consol won't come down during a game. On my friends comp you press ` and it comes down during the game. i can't do this, and it is realy annoying me.

Well you can give this a shot:
Right click on your CS icon on desktop
Hit Properties
At the very end of the target line, add the following string:
"-console" . So you would have something like "C:\Program Files\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -console" under Target.
I don't think this will work, because these target commands are Half-Life commands... but heck it's worth a try.
If all else fails, try to uninstall and reinstall the game. (Make sure you have backups to all your CS updates though).

Wel lit worked....i just loaded up CS and the console was there. Now I just have to figure out how to bring it down during a game.

Can you pull the console down with the tilda (~) key? If not, try looking at your controls menu and set everything back to default.
