Doom3 pak001.pak4 problem

I read that some guy had a problem with his pak002, i have the same problem but with pak001, i dont have a copy of the game i have the real thing but it tells me to check if the file exists or if i have permission for it, i can see the file there but the comp somehow doesnt, the game freezes and boots me out like every five minutes wich is very frustrating, any help would be extremly apreciated.
