Sims 2 and DirectX 9.0c

whenever i go to run sims 2 a box comes up that says that I need DirectX9.0c i've gone onto microsoft and tried to download it but it still doesn't work... i saw something that someone wrote back and it said to go onto properties then settings and see what kind of display you have... mine says "Plug and Play Monitor on RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X... someone plz help me i spent a lot of money on this game and now i can't even play it

Your video card isn't supported and I believe it is either 4 or 8 MBs or so various websites tell me. You'll need to get a hold of a newer video card in order to play The Sims 2. Also what is your processor speed and amount of RAM in your computer?
