i am running xp pro and logitec mx duo board
and mouse. the keyboard stopped responding,
so i changed the batteries, etc... when that
didn't help i figured it was toast and decided
to install a corded one. every time i do this it
gives me an (error code 39 " cannot load driver
for this device, either corrupted or missing").
i have tried everything, even running the xp
repair from the cd, but to no avail. any ideas?
thanks for your help. les

Did you hit the reset button on the bottom of the keyboard? Should reconnect after doing so. You may also have to hit the reset button on the reciever as well.

yes i did. i went through the trouble shooting steps offered by logitec and microsoft. i am at a loss. i also wrote to logitec, but it may take a while for them to write and tell me to go through the trouble shooting steps.

does anybody know what drivers xp loads for the
keyboard? maybe i am missing some drivers. i
tried a usb adapter and it gave the same message.
i don't mind replacing the motherboard if i can
condem it, but i don't want to do it if it's a
software problem. any help appreciated.

Let me get this straight. The keyboard doesn't work at all? Your error code is listed on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/servic...des.htm?gssnb=1
along with a possible solution.

you are correct! i went to the page and 39 is the
message i keep getting. i think the problem may
be in the registry, or a missing driver, but i don't
know the driver names to check, or the registry
entries to check. i am not afraid to go into the
registry, but i don't want to go poking around blind.
i have run the troubleshooting wizard and it is
useless. thanks for your help.

Did you try uninstalling your keyboard in device manager and rebooting to let it install it again?

Posted by: imlester@hotmai

yes i have done that several times. i uninstall the
drivers and then i go to the device manager and
then to reboot. i keep getting that message what
ever i do? i am about ready to blow everything off
the drive and reinstall xp. any other ideas? thanks

Nope, fresh out. Sorry!

It definitly seems to be an XP problem. Keyboards, as plug and play devices don't need thier drivers installed to work, the drivers just let you use some of the extra feature it may have such as multimedia, shortcuts ect. My best guess would be to try a repair install of XP. However, if the keyboard doesn't work in BIOS, then it is a mobo/BIOS isssue.
