Still unresolved issue with onboard SiS! I don't know what to do!

I posted a while back about a problem I'm having with my video. I've tried Sony's site, Asus (mobo maker), SiS's site, called Sony, and dozens of sites with people having similiar problems but their situations are different.
Here's the rundown..
I've got a Sony Vaio PCV-RX741 desktop, with a Asus A7S266-VX motherboard, running Award BIOS v6.0 Revision 1003VX. The mobo has the SiS 740 integrated graphics on it. I have a new PCI geforce card (I have no AGP) I want to install, its not the best but I can't run a single game that has come out in the past year+ because of this awful SiS 740. Its not compatible with anything. I've installed the new PCI card into the first PCI slot, hoping it would override the onboard, which it didn't. Plugging into my new card upon booting left my monitor blinking that orange LED at me :P So I checked through the BIOS, I've found no way to disable it there, even Sony's (lame, lame lame) support site said it wasn't possible through the BIOS. So I said it must be the jumpers, so i checked Asus's site, grabbed the manual to the board, and it doesn't say -anything- about jumpers for the onboard video. The only route I haven't took, is upgrading my BIOS. I'd give it a shot, but I've never done it before and if I screw that up, I might not have a computer to worry with, lol.
At this point, I just want to know- Is it possible? Sony has been no help whatsoever. Would they really sell a 'digital studio' computer to people, if there was no way whatsoever in upgrading the video? It just doesn't make sense. If anyone is skilled in this area, I'll give you any information you need, and answer any questions ya got. I'm really up a creek, without a paddle, lol.
