Computer won't start. Power Supply?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

One morning i woke up and tried to turn my computer on. I pushed the button. Nothing happened. Nothing. No fans started spinning, no noises, no nothing. The night before it worked just fine. I turned it off, went to bed, and that was it. I checked all the obvious stuff, tried different power cable, different outlet, surge protector, etc. The comp is only about 4 months old. I custom built it myself. It had a 500 watt dual fan power supply, p4 3ghz, radeon 9800. 4 case fans for plenty of cooling. You guyz think replacing power supply will fix problem or do you think it is probably the more expensive motherboard? I do not have another comp to try the power supply in or another supply to try in this comp. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

it is most likely the power supply.

most likely your power supply is out. Now you can be an electrician!!! Get your volt meter out and go to the this site I found this site for you as a reference. If you dont have a volt meter, go to advance auto or something like that they sell them around 10 bucks.

This site tells you what each pin is suppose to put out. Of course each one has its acceptable voltage range to test good.
PIN

1 +3.1 to +3.5v
2 +3.1 to +3,5v
3 ground
4 +4.5 to +5.5v
5 ground
6 +4.5 to +5.5v
7 ground
8 power good
9 +4.5 to +5.5v
10 +10.8 to +13.2v
11 +3.3 to +3.5v
12 -10.8 to -13.2v
13 ground
14 power supply on
15 black ground
16 black ground
17 black ground
18 -4.5 to -5.5v
19 +4.5 to +5.5v
20 +4.5 to +5.5v

Good luck!!!

i have the same problem with my custom computer just a few weeks ago. Wait...when you turn it on...by pressing the button...did any of the light flash...if it flash and went off asap...then I am sure is the power supply...because that happen to me twice...I finally out why...that is because the power supply of the computer is not enough for the device on the system...so when it over heat.... and burn out. Another problem may be your power surge...the peak may be to high or too low...therefor your computer power supply could burn out too...

If i were you...i buy a new power supply and a new power surge. At least thats what i did...
well good luck...i hope this help
