Ram

I was just wondering something and I couldn't find anything about it by google searching. Example: I have 4 dimm slots on my mother board. To get 1 gig of RAM I could put in:
a) 4x256mb modules
b) 2x512mb modules

Besides the fact that there is no room for upgrading later w/ filling the whole thing, is there any advantage/disadvantage either way? (performance-wise)

They should perform the same. Both ways are acceptable as dual channel solutions, assuming the motherboard supports it.

Personally, I'd stick with the 2x512mb module setup. Just me though.

the 2x512 should be cheaper, and allows future upgrades as you mentioned. but in terms of performance, no difference unless something is faulty.
