Well, i got to play a few games of warcraft online the other day. But i noticed it was a bit laggy...sort of like intermittent complete stops(every 30 seconds or so) folllowed by speed ups to make up for the time lost...
My connection reads 11mb/s.... Is that fast enough or is there something wrong with my wireless card...
I have a wireless router upstairs...I went to the linksys site and it actually had some sort of a similar problem that i had..."intermittent stops"...it told me to change the channels of the wireless router to 1,6, or 11...I dont know how!
My other part of my problem is located in the hardware section http://www.opentechsupport.net/foru...ead.php?t=30099
maybe you can help me out with that too...or maybe they are related?
NegotiatorSmith??
THanks

The 11 mb/s is the wireless connection's bandwidth, not its latency. If possible, it would be best to connect your computer or another computer directly to your modem and see if the lag stops, as it's very likely that you have a latency problem.
The other cause of your problem is a process running in the background that's stealing CPU time. What version of Windows are you using?

the connection says very good...would bringing the router any closer make a difference in the lagg??I could probably connect my other pc to the modem...but not mine...
My OS is windows XP...i really dont think there are processes that are stealing my cpu time..
my pc is brand new...and i havent done any internet surfing what so ever!
do you know how to switch channels?

Yeah, bringing it closer would probably make quite a difference.
If you wouldn't mind, I'd like you to go to this link and download HijackThis:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
Download it, run it, click the "Scan" button, then click "Save Log" and post the log's contents here. This will easily let me see what you have running.
Sorry, no I don't know how to switch channels.

ok thanks...ill try that!
everyone seems to be telling me to directly link the modem to my pc without the wireless adapter...I CAN do that..and i will try that this weekend....although it will be a hassel...
