I want to play that new blizzard MMO world of warcraft, however my computer is not good enough(i downloaded the beta). I have all the basic requirments except for my proccesor speed, and video card. I e-mailed my computer guy and he says he'll do it but it'll cost me $411(i also asked for another slab of 256 RAM, i had 256 of RAM originally). He also recomends that i just get a new comouter for $850, which is really good. Should i get it uprgaded decently or get an entirely new system for double the price.
Note: My freind will give his spare monitor and his spare speakers to me if i get the new system, so ill have an new coputer entirely.

if your system is old enough that it doesnt meet the minimum processor spec, i would suggest you buy a new system. adding ram and a video card is cost effective, but once you get beyond that, not so much. particularly since youd also be looking at a new power supply more than likely. oh, 512 ram wont cut it either in terms of playability. 512 doesnt cut it for mmorpgs 5 years old.
if possible, should you buy a new one, avoid companies that provide proprietary parts like motherboard and power supply. that would make upgrading hell.

you're kidding. i thought the minumum for WoW was 256

it is. that doesnt mean it will be playable, thats just what youll need to get it to actually run. 512 pc3200 with an athlon64 3000 and a gf6800 might work reasonably well. but most people dont have that. unless blizzard lost their minds, and actually made a mmorpg that will play at the minimum specs.

It is but they were talking in term of MINIMUM system requirement. But the question is will it be enjoyable.
Edit: Beaten by the person above.

From what I've seen on Blizzard's WoW tech forum, it is strongly recommended that for best performance you go for at least a gig of RAM. 256 is the minimum, but yeah, it definitely won't cut it.
