Power auxillary devices off laptop battery

I am making a rocket launching system, which includes a laptop to run tracking applications. I was wondering if i could steal power from the laptops battery to run other devices, ie. to run current through igniter or run lights, LEDs, or other things on my little rocket control panel, while the laptop is running. How do i bridge into the power coming out of the battery to power these auxillery devices?

the best you could do without opening up the laptop and voiding your warranty completely is using a USB port's power. However, USB is only 5V and very little amperage. Not enough to ignite a rocket engine.
If you want to open the laptop up, I suppose the best way would be to wire your equipment straight from the battery, then step down the voltage as needed. I don't know how much an average laptop battery pushes volt and amp wise, but it might be enough to ignite a rocket. Emphasis on "might." I don't know how much power is required for an igniter either.
