There's a Yahoo Finance story currently up about a deal between nVidia and Intel. Looks like good news for the Intel platform concidering their current chipset shortage.
NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA - News) and Intel Corporation today announced that the companies have signed a broad, multi-year patent cross-license agreement spanning multiple product lines and product generations. Additionally, the companies signed a multi-year chipset agreement for NVIDIA to license Intel's front-side bus technology. This will enable NVIDIA to deliver the NVIDIA nForce(TM) platform technology on Intel-based systems.
An official press release from nVidia can be read here.

It should be interesting how it all plays out. I don't think it will hurt AMD too much though. Now VIA on the other hand should be sweating like crazy. I can't see them being around much longer the way nVidia is cranking out the quality chipsets. When the Athlon 64 pci-express/Sli boards come out in full force, they are going to clean up. Especially with tax refund season close. That's what i'm waiting for. Then it's Uber-upgrade time for me.
As for the Intel version of nForce, I can't see it being released anytime soon unless nVidia has been working on it already despite licensing issues.
