Simcity 4 install problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello

I installed simcity 4, used simcity 4, then i bought the rush hour expansion and tried to install that, but it gets to 10 percent then stops with an error file missing or corrupt, now i cannot play simcity 4 at all, does not work, i am not happy at this, and if this cannot be solved i will take the expansion pack back to the shop for a refund, since it is useless, and a waste of money, anyone know why it does that, i am using a raid hard disk, so don't know if that is causing it.

Regards

Andrew

hate to say it but you may have a bum disk
i had been running my sim 4 and rush for almost a year on and off and i had to reinstall both at least 2X after my hardware updates.
BTW if you ever get rush to work its worth it.
but depending on your machine you may have to tweak the graphics to compensate for draw speed.

Hello,
Did you find a solution to this problem? I have the same issue, trying to install the Rush Hour Exp over SC4 on a second external hard drive. I don't want to use all that space on the "system" hard drive, that's why I ask you if you found a way to fix this and install on the external drive anyway?
Thanks in advance,
Claudio

Hello,
Thanks for the reply, it was not so technical, I undestood allright. However at first glance it would seem that because you changed controller cards (tha RAID card) the game finally installed fine, but then how come it doesn't install at all in my other computer's single drive?
I think that perhaps my "Rush Hour" is too scratched... I'll post any follow-ups to this problem, because I also contacted my local EA Games rep.
Best wishes,
Claudio

I got a new raid card, i think that raid card was damaging the data, this new raid card is a ACARD AEC 6890, now this time the game installed without any problems. I use the 320 gig as D:\ to store all my games on, i have over 60 games, i don't know if you can install simcity on an external hard disk, but you should be able to install it on an internal one, in other put another hard disk in your computer then you will have 2, i normally get a small capacity for the windows C:\ and big capacity for Games D:\.

I hope this helps, and i hope this is not to technical for you.

Hello

Also i am having other problems with my games, although i can install them ok, but it is running them with this new raid card, some games have had display problems while running, like Dungeon Siege there was a moving bar at the top of the screen, even though i could play the game ok, but i would of had to cover top 25 percent of the monitor in order to play it. now i did try simcity 3000 world edition and surprise the graphics was ok, but the game crashed after 5 mins back to desktop unexpectedly, now lets see what simcity 4 does although i installed it without any errors the game and expansion pack, i have not ran the game yet, i have been playing age of empires 2, at least that game works fine.

Anyway thats my problem there.

Regards

Andrew
