well now that your post is actually readable, I'm sure someone will comment.

If you haven't already looked at this sites very good "How to build a Thunderbird" article...you can do so here .
Likewise, over at SharkyExtreme is another good step by step newbie article on how to put all those pieces together. You can get it here.
Here is another article to get you started.
Once you have read those, if you have any questions, many people in these boards will be more then happy to help you with specific problems..or even hardware discussions.
Oh and if you didn't know...Caps = shouting on the net.

Much better now, thanks Mem for getting rid of the "caps"

Anyway, welcome to OTS, Phazer ... give us a chance, we're actually pretty knowledgeable behind our confrontational facade
RE: Your planned raid system...
gigabyte ga7dxr mobo
amd 1400mhz
gainward "golden sample" gf2 vivo mx400 card
256mb crucial cas 2.5 registered (till sys. Is stable)
2 x ibm 60gxp x 7200 hdd
Dragon orb3
pioneer 16x dvd
older philips cd/rw
Newq plat
Seems a pretty decent setup (I haven't used a Gigabyte mobo so I couldn't really tell you much about it). I assume you'll be getting PC2100 DDR SDRAM (which are pretty cheap at Crucial right now). I dunno bout the Orb ... might wanna try a GlobalWin heatsink instead... NewQ Platinum is kinda like a built-in EQ system for your computer - what soundcard are you gonna match it with? Or are you gonna stay with the integrated audio on the mobo (eewww ) ...
In any case, you might wanna post more details at our Hardware forums, and I'm sure the techies will give ya a hand on how to do it.
As Chako suggested, check out the guide I wrote here. It's pretty dated now, but the procedures still apply.
I guess the first time when you wrote in CAPS, people thought you're just another spammer. I and sure you (and we) know better this time

I own the Gigabyte board in question, and I will say that it is a mighty fine product. It's not for overclockers though, but I didn't buy my system to tinker with it. I'm probably the only one of this bunch that will claim that right now, but I'm pretty content that my system will rip through most anything without a problem.
