Alright heres my problem, I got Everquest 2 last night and played it for about half an hour. Then it locked up my computer. I would reboot and play for another 10 minutes and it would happen again, now I get to the part where it says loading character into world and it crashes there every time forcing me to reboot. I have updated my video card driver and turned off my firewall. I have no idea why the game would run and now it won't even load. Any help would be very usefull im completely in the dark on this one. There was one other user on here who posted the same problem but it ends with him saying he will try disabling his firewall, dont know if that worked for him but it didn't help me out. Well here are my specs:
I am currently running an IBM ThinkCentre
Processor: Pentium 4 3000MHz (L1 cache: 8.00Kb, L2 cache: 512.0 Kb) Ext.clock: 100 MHz
Motherboard: IBM (IBM) (WMT478/NWD)
Memory:512 Mb (523 244 Kb) J4: 256 Mb(DDR,Synchronous) J15: 256 Mb(DDR,Synchronous)
VideoCard:RADEON 8800 Family (Microsoft Corporation) (64.0 Mb): 800 x 600 - True Color (32 bit)

sounds like your crashing has corrupted the program, fairly common with games. run your maintenance programs and reinstall the game if necessary. your hardware just meets the minimum specs, so crashing would be expected periodically.

I am also getting the same thing happening. It crashes when it says its loading my characters. I went as far as removing SP2. I did everything the Live Chat tech guys at SOE told me to do and i reinstalled it again, still happens. This is realllly annoying. Can anyone please help?
I am running a AMD 1700 Xp Athlon. Ti4200 128mb Video Card, 512 DDR ram, all the latest drivers including DX9.0c

did you read through the tech support forums? that would be the most likely place a solution could be found, if there is one.

Uninstall the programs that are crashing. Run a scandisc and defrag your harddrive. Reinstall the programs.

that is normally on the list the techs from sony would give. along with updated drivers of all kinds, dx9, firewall/av crap, etc.

I have done everything humanly possible under the sun and I just dont get it. It was working fine before I installed 9.0c DX
