Frozen Throne

Hi
I am currently playing Warcraft 2 battle net via LAN. I don't need to connect to the net to do this. I use a PCMICA Card and connect to the other computer in the house and play against my house mate.

Now my question is, in the blurb for Frozen Throne it says: "the game is fully equipped with a multiplayer LAN setup as well as the ability to play against computers with 3 selectable difficulty levels. Players have the option of playing 1-12 players per game simultaneously in any combination they choose..."

Does anyone know if using the same setup i've got will work? Or is Frozen Throne a purely net based game? If i cn use it via LAN do i need more than one copy of frozen throne or does it like Warcraft 2 allow you to spawn the disc so you can use it via the LAN connection?

Thanks
Eiluj

Warcraft III LAN games are simply defined as TCP/IP games that you can play with people on your local IP subnet. Warcraft II BNE uses IPX, but if you can use other TCP/IP-based services on your LAN such as Windows file sharing, then Warcraft III LAN games will work. Just make sure that each computer is running the same version of the game and if you have a software firewall installed on one or both of the machines, make sure that it's configured to allow WC3 to connect to other computers.

Neither Reign of Chaos nor Frozen Throne have a "spawn" feature, however you can install one copy of the game on two computers, start up a LAN game on one, remove the CD and use it to start up the game on the other computer. Note that opentechsupport.net does not condone piracy, so "do the right thing" and get two copies of the game. ;-)

thanks NegotiatorSmith
That answers my question. I didn't know i could swap the disc over into the other computer once i'd started up a LAN game. As far as i know i have TCP/IP-based services on my LAN. I shall try your suggestion out.
