Canada will not put any money into building the missile shield and it will not allow Washington to station rockets on Canadian soil as the price of participation in the multibillion-dollar program, Martin told Global National in a year-end interview.
In another issue that could cause friction with Bush, Martin said Canada was prepared to accept U.S. citizens who do not want to serve in the war in Iraq.

that would be cool. no more customs at the border ^^

Not cool for me red, I live in the immediate fallout zone of the largest base in the Commonwealth. First it was commies that put us on the map, now its that elephant to the south.
I'm sure they'll be able to make a decent shield by stationing the missiles in Alaska and Greenland, though Denmark could be a pain in the ass, being a left swinging European nation.
I may be a Red Tory, but the shield would have just cost too much and not have worked. Something like the slush fund known as the War on Drugs. Economic stimulant for corporations and causing hell up north.

The only time Canada will ever need missile defense is when Americans catapult themselves over the Northern American border to avoid the eventual third World War.

carmen herself couldn't have said it better.

It would make more sense for the U.S. to incorporate Canada into several new "states", as well as Mexico...sooner or later...the Pan American Union will become a reality. It is just a matter of time.
Canada has the raw resource, the U.S. has the industrial capability, and Mexico has a cheap labor force.
I don't think war with Canada will ever be an option. I believe that John Candy Movie put the whole notion to rest in the mind of americans forever.
Bush is the scariest President since Nancy Regan. At least Nancy had the ability to think before acting. I for one think Canada is safe from U.S. invasion. We have too many major scores to settle in the rest of the world. France comes to mind.

Of course we are safe. If the US invaded Canada, that would pretty much ally every other country on the globe against them.

and the change there would be..........?

We will become the next western Europe.....
I think that the Pan American Union is already in effect thanks to the misuse of NAFTA. Very few originally Canadian companies is actually Canadian owned. Tim Hortons, Laura Secord, Futureshop, the former Montreal Expos, Toronto Bluejays, Montreal Canadeins and I don't quite know the history of Roots. Air Canada is run by a very bad Texan businessman.
