diablo 2 install probs

i purchased the diablo battle chest about a yr ago...i played online for quite sometime....after a few months because of some comp problem i was forced to wipe and then reinstall my operating system...since then i have tried many times to reinstall my diablo box set.....my first disc...diablo/spawn diablo,installs fine...i can play it online and everything...but...when i attempt to install diablo 2...it tells me that i must eject the play disc and use the install disc...i have 4 discs d 1...d2 play...d2 cinematics....d2 lod.....know matter what i try i cannot get d2 to load on my comp....if anyone has any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong ...or some advice...i would greatly appreciate it..thnx....i'm pretty sure i'm not missing a disc...they are all cleaned and spotless...my cd rom works perfectly....and my system is more than compatable...as i said i was playing lod online...ive searched all the posts pertaining to d2 and cant find anything that works...what the hell am i missing?plz reply...

And for future reference please don't post with tons of dots to seperate sentences. Haha. It sounds like your problem is just that you're trying to start the game with the wrong disc. And what precisely have you tried?

it does sound that way huh? first im supposed to install diablo1 then install d2 then d2 lod.like i said ,d1 works fine with one exception ,installation of d1 should lead directly to installation of d2,im not getting an option for a desktop shorcut or anything.and when i try to install d2 it keeps telling me to eject the play disk and put in the install disk...the install disk for d2 "is" d1.i dont know what ta do.

Diablo 1 is not the install disk for Diablo 2, you do not need to have Diablo 1 installed at all, nor do you need to have the Diablo 1 disk in order to install Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 consists of 3 cd's: The Install disk, the Play disk and the Cinematics disk. The expansion for Diablo 2 (Lord of Destruction) is 1 seperate disk.
You need to find the Install disk for Diablo 2, and start installing with that.

thnx man, i was under the impression there were only four discs in the set.i was clearly wrong.now i gotta go digging.thnx

ha I thought you already knew that,ya you dont need the D1 disc to instal D2 unlike everquest or the sims.
