Second Hard Drive keeps disappearing...

My second hard drive an 80g samsung (i know i know)
it keeps appearing and then disappearing. I've replaced the ribbon cable i don't know how many times, and each time it works and then just goes away again.
any idea why this keeps happening?

Does it happen after long-term idling of the drive? It happened to me a while ago. Fixed it by turning off all the power management options, just the HDD specific ones wasn't enough.

goto www.snapfiles.com & type 'LSPFix repairs Winsock 2 settings' in there search box or try www.dougknox.com and try his dvd/cd drive restore. i had same problem. tell me what happens
