Bittorrent sites biting the dust

Looks as if the MPAA is getting serious about cracking down now. This was posted on the Supernova.org website.
As you have probably noticed, we have often had downtimes. This was because it was so hard to keep this site up! But now we are sorry to inform you all, that SuprNova is closing down for good in the way that we all know it. We do not know if SuprNova is going to return, but it is certainly not going to be hosting any more torrent links. We are very sorry for this, but there was no other way, we have tried everything.
torrentbits, tvtorrents, and phoenix torrents are also down. Coincedence? Doubtful.

I'm getting timeouts on suprnova.org.
Looks like they're screwed. I wonder when the next filesharing excuse will come along...

I wouldn't count them out yet. I heard they're working on a serverless torrent client.

Aren't they getting done for "Aiding" the crime, not actually commiting it? Wouldn't a serverless client fall under the same catergory?
I mean, they still have to distribute the program somehow.

Well, the client itself isn't illegal. It's the copyrighted torrents themselves that are the problem. And they were showing copyrighted torrents on their website.
A client based engine removes any responsibiity of their involvement with illegal torrents. I'm not sure how it's going to work yet. If there's a way to trace a torrent to the originator, the mpaa could target that person in a lawsuit. It should be interesting how all this pans out.
On the brightside, isohunt is still up. So they haven't targeted everyone yet.

It says on the homepage that they have been mailed by them, and they're "Working it out"
Quote:
- MP** targetting BitTorrent servers
We've been emailed a cease & desist letter from them, with a "sample" of infringing links. We are in the process of working this out with them, as per our copyright policy.

While i'm not completely giving up hope, i'll remain pessimistic for the time being.

suprnova.org may be down but suprnova.tk, one of the mirrors is still running if anyone wishes to buy ringtones

They are working on this prototype of the next generation BitTorrent client, eXeem.
