canon bjc-80 not working/both lights on &3 beebs

canon bjc-80 color bubble jet is on a hp w/ win xp home. when u turn on printer green light flashes, it beebs 3 times and about 5 min. later it starts making noise as if its starting 2 print or smething & then the error light comes on & both light stay on. device mangr. shows no problms and no errors shown. if u press the cartridge button, well nothin happens. i cant print a test page, print from command promt, or any function @ that matter. i tried all suggestions on cannon site, changed cables, and still nada. if sme1 nos what i can do please help. actually its a friens printer & im jst trying 2 help. thanx

Is it fully loaded with ink? In the manual it should explain the error code of the lights and beeps.
