Hey, lately, when I'm playing WC3, i get some odd lag while playing. My gameplay is almost always excellent and all, but like, at completely random times during the game, something decides to have an aneurism, and for about 10-20 seconds, the video part of the game will freeze, and i will lag (pissing not only me but many other people off). After this, the screen for a moment goes black (like half a second), reloads everything, and all is well again. The sound never freezes. I was just wondering if anyone could help me? Thanks much!

Did the problem start after you made some specific change with your computer? Your post says "lately" so that implies you didn't always have this problem.
What are your system specs?

P4 2.8 Ghz
512 DDR400 Ram
GeForce FX 5200 128 MB Video card
Onboard sound
Well, I can't really tell when the problem happend, I stopped playing the game for awhile, and it just came outta nowhere when i started again. It occurs most when im playing DotA, but then again that's what I play most so it's kinda hard to tell.

Do you have the latest drivers for your video card installed? How about the latest version of DirectX?
I've only heard of this problem a couple times before, and in one case, the guy had a GeForce card and running the game in OpenGL fixed it for him. To run the game in OpenGL, simply use the -opengl command-line argument.

I do have the latest version of my video drivers and DirectX. I'm quite rusty with computers, how do you put in those commands again? And is there any downsides to OpenGL?

Right-click on your Warcraft III shortcut and click Properties. One space after the ending quotation mark in the Target box, add -opengl. Click OK and run the game again.
In my experience, there are no significant differences between running Warcraft III in Direct3D and OpenGL on either Nvidia or ATI cards.
