A certain GIMP is giving me problems..

Well, I've been doing fun things with the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program--amazing little free thingy), and once I was done with it. I uninstalled it. Problem is, the GIMP changed itself to be my default image viewer. Not a big deal, except that once uninstalled, it didn't seem to give back a default viewer. Before the GIMP, I just used IE.

Well, I've tried attemtping to re-associate the files with IE to open them. I can't just open IE to view images, as I don't have internet, and I get the wizard every time I try to open things--doesn't help much. So, looking at the file-types thing in explorer, in the folder options area, I can see Jpeg extensions, but not gifs or bmps. The jpeg IS associated with Internet Explorer, and is set to open with that program as a default. Except when you view the files in explorer, you get the generic icon (not a jpeg- the one where it's just a file with an unassociated file), and upon double-clicking, nothing happens.

I browsed my registry, and looking at the master root thingy, the associations .gif, .jpeg, and .bmp all have registry entries called THEGIMP20. Now, I used the uninstall that came with the GIMP, so that was a complete uninstall. Or was it?

I'm wondering, is there a way to reassociate those files, or do I need to edit the registry? What happen?
