Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour

I bought the Zero Hour expansion pack for Command and Conquer Generals. I originally had some problems with Generals. It would often freeze a few minutes into the game or during the main menu. I contacted the EA tech support and they gave me a few suggestions as to how to fix the problem. One of the suggestions worked. The tech support told me to lower my sound acceleration to "Basic." That fixed the problem and I have not had any problems with Generals ever since. I bought the expansion pack about a week ago and it was working perfectly fine. The other day, however, I was beginning to have the same problem I had with Generals. The sound acceleration is still set at "Basic", I have tried shutting down all background applications, turning off my anti-virus software, I have the latest video and audio drivers that Dell has provided. I am running the game on a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop. I have 512 Mb memory, a 128 Mb ATI Radeon 9700 video card, Pentium 4 2.8 GHz. Any suggestions/solutions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
-Jon
