Can you please post the exact error message you're getting?

ERROR
No program start menu found.

That's the first time I've ever seen that error, and yes, all of the Google search results related to this are about running SC under Linux. However, I looked at some of the results and they explain what the problem is - the installer is unable to write to the Start Menu registry key in the Windows registry. Under Windows Me, this could be caused by a running background program interfering with the installer, such as an antivirus program, parental control software or even a virus or adware/spyware. It could also be caused by someone disabling registry editing on purpose (in Windows Me I believe this is achieved with a tool called the Policy Editor).

So, here's what you need to do. First, if this computer is not your own, you will need to ask whoever owns it if they have disabled registry editing. If they have, have them enable it so you can install SC.

If they haven't or you own the computer, the next thing to do is shut down any antivirus programs, firewalls, parental control software, anti-adware/spyware tools, etc. and try installing again. If you do not know if you have any of these things, please hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and post the names of all the things that appear in the box.

You should also scan for viruses and adware/spyware.

Finally, if this is a pirated copy of the game, please get a legit one and try again.

How do i know iff the registry editor is on or off?

and how do i enable it if its disabled

Are you the owner and only user of your computer?

Posted by: tharipsta

I am 1 of about 5 users.

i am the main user tho, and i dont know what i would have done to make this happen.

i dont recall tampering with anything.

Thanx Anyways tho! But i've decided to to Reboot my computer to its factory condition.

thanx for ur help and now This THREAD IS POINTLESS!

If "rebooting" (you mean restoring) your computer to its factory condition helped, well, whatever works. I was hoping we might find the real cause of the problem.
