ADSL & XP

I found a question on the web and I have the same problem but I don't have the ansvare.

Question:

I just got adsl, got a speedstream 5200 modem with it. When I login to Windows (XP), all system tray icons load fast (as usual) but the network adapters icons wont show until 1 minute later (avg). If I disconnect the modem while i boot/login to Windows, and once I'm logged I plug it, then there's no problem.

Where are you located and what ADSL service are you using ?

It might be the PPPOE negotiations that are taking too long, although once I know who you're with I can investigate further.

I have:
AMD 1000Mh, 512MB ram, sis 900 PCI fast ethernet adapter ( 100.0Mbps ) and SIEMENS ADSL modem connected by ethernet . It dont have problems with connection but slow startup.

Maybe the integrated Firewall / Connection sharing that comes with XP is lagging for some reason ?

Anyone else have suggestions ?
