Prblems with talking to other players on SOCOM 2

My husband and I play SOCOM 2 online. We can get connected and even play with the other players. The problem is that after we die we can't talk to other players that have died. We have broadband and a wired router. We called both support places for our broadband and for the router. They have checked it out and everything is fine. We've never had this problem before.
If someone could help we would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
HALO

Can you talk in-game to the other players? You also may need to open these ports on your router:
TCP Ports: 10070 - 10080
UDP Ports: 10070

Last night we got on and now it is completely random being able to talk to people. We can talk to players in game one minute and then the next we can't. It's the same way after we die. Really frustrating. We've tried everything, even reset both the modem and the router and we still have the same problem.

That sounds like a hardware or port problem to me. You may have a firewall or SPI stopping the voice from transmitting properly, see if you can... Well, turn any of them off.

You were right about the ports. We need to get them opened up. I called Sony and they told me the same ones that you posted. Hopefully this will solve our problem. Thanks so much for your help!

We got those ports opened up and I'm happy to say that everything is A-ok. Yippee!!!
Thanks again for your help.

Well unfortunately I'm back again. I opened up those ports on the router and even upgraded the firmware for it, and the mics are screwing up again. The firewall that I have is Zone Alarm and it's never caused a problem before. It's allowing my IP address through. That's what the playstations are using to get online. I'm not even sure what an SPI is. I've never messed with this stuff until the mics started screwing up (which was just maybe a week ago). I've done all that I can think of and still the mics are screwing up. They worked at first when I opened the ports, but then went back to being sporadic. So I upgraded the firmware. That worked for a short period of time and then went back to being sporadic. So other than shooting the playstations, I'm at a loss for what to do. This is so frustrating!!!!!!!! If you have anymore suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.
