Sony Vaio and ext monitor

i am using a vaio notebook with an ext monitor (NEC - CRT), at office. take the vaio home, start with no ext monitor - ok. came back in the office, attached the ext monitior, start the computer and .... the ext monitor starts up to when the win xp sp2 loads the video driven. at that moment the ext monitor is shut off. when the boot process finished, i can reactivate the ext monitor with fn+f7 keys. is there any way the i can make the computer to keep using the ext monitor during the boot process?
