PS2 not completely working

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My PS2 got knocked off a table, fell about two feet and hit on the rear corner behind the location of the memory card and controller plug. Game is Warriors of Noratth.

The games will start up just fine, will let me load only one of the save files (there are 5 total). Am able to play the game and save to the same file name, but if I ttry to teleport, either by scroll or tower, the game essentially locks on the Loading Please Wait screen.

When i try to open the otehr save files, I get the same Loading Please Wait screen foreevr.

I have tried a cold and warm boot, unplugged everything, turned main power (on back) off. Even pulled the memory card, rebooted, inserted when requested, still no luck.

It appears that the drive is working properly, i..e- reads disk ok. Could the memory card gotten 'shocked' by the fall and corrupted the files, if so, why all but one?

Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

A PS2 memory card is what is know as "solid state memory", or "flash memory". It cannot loose, gain or have any data corrupted through smacks, bashes, bumps or even water. Because of this, a fall cannot break the PS2 memory card, as far as I am aware.

It sounds more like you have jolted your PS2, and it has either corrupted the saves itself, or cannot read them. Your memory card is fine, but your PS2 may well not be. A scratched disk could also lead to problems loading saves, if it cannot access certain things those saves require that your other games do not.

I would advise you take the game and the memory card round to a friend or relative who happens to have a PS2 (It proberbly needs to be online as well, for your game). See if it works there, and if not it could well be a physical disk problem. If that doesnt go well, you may be at a loss with those saves. If the other PS2 can access them, it looks like you may have to get in contact with the Sony support line, or the SOE helpline.
