Xbox Problem?

I have just purchased an XBox and two games, Driver 3 & HALO. I tried Driver 3 and there seems to be some lag time between when I press a button and the corresponding action. I thought it might be the game so I tried HALO and I am experiencing the same problem. Is this normal??? I would not think so.

That isn't normal at all, from my experiance. It sounds like you have a dodgy controller, with the contacts between the button and the inputs being slightly dodgy, or some other problem with the controller.
Firstly, you may like to take the controller over to someone elses house and see if it works properly in their console. If so, that would mean the fault is with your actual Xbox, and not the controller. If it still lags, the problem is with your controller, and you either need to return it for a new one or buy another.
Then again, if it's still close enough to when you bought the console you should be able to take back the entire unit and have it exchanged for another, as it is not working correctly.
