This problem doesn't normally bother me to much, but I decided i'd find out what was causeing it and if theres a way to fix it.
Whenever a MIDI file open on my computer, be it on a webpage, or if i open on on my harddrive that i've saved, it resets my MIDI volume down to normal. Now, i have my colume setup like this(Double click on the speaker icon in taskbar, this is based on the lines apearing on the sttings, where there are 7 lines, 7 beeing MAXED and 1 beeing MINIMUM.)
Play Control Balance - MAXED
CD Audio Balance - 6
Line In Balance - 6 MUTED
Wave/Direct Sound Balance - 6
MIDI Balance - 6
See attached screenshot for what my volume settings are before i open an MIDI file.

what do you use to play the midi's? some programs (winamp) can change the volume when they start to play
[edit]that wouldn't explain why it does that on web pages and places like that[/edit]

What sound card do you have?
my SBlive runs this program in the taskbar that allows acess to the configs for it, including the Mixer.
I always use that instead of default volume control.
what's with the scrollbar? is that something on OTS I have disabled in IE or are you just editing the appearance?
